Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) has launched OmniVista Terra, an intelligent on-premises solution for network management. This new variant is a key addition to the existing cloud-based OmniVista Cirrus platform and is specifically designed for organizations that require full local control over their network infrastructure.
What is OmniVista Terra?
OmniVista Terra is a new generation Network Management System (NMS) that provides extensive visibility and control over enterprise networks. The platform combines advanced AI functionality with powerful observability features to help network administrators efficiently manage complex network infrastructures.
The solution includes an AI chatbot interface that allows network administrators to receive real-time answers to network-related questions, configuration instructions, and troubleshooting support in plain language. Through integration with ALE’s AIOps tool Network Advisor, OmniVista Terra can also help identify root causes of incidents and efficiently address network issues.
For advanced network analysis, Terra delivers deep insights into network performance, user behavior, and device status. The platform provides real-time data on user experience quality, network performance, and historical analytics, significantly simplifying the process of identifying network issues.
Why is an on-premises variant important?
Although ALE already offers the successful cloud-based OmniVista Cirrus, Terra plays a crucial role for specific sectors and organizations. It delivers identical functionality to Cirrus but in a locally hosted environment—a requirement often mandated in industries such as transportation, energy and utilities, healthcare, and defense.
For government institutions and highly regulated industries, full local control over infrastructure is often an absolute necessity. For security, compliance, or sovereignty reasons, these organizations cannot outsource their network management to external cloud services. OmniVista Terra enables these sectors to still benefit from the most advanced network management capabilities.
Unified Network Management Strategy
Together, Terra and Cirrus form an integrated network management suite that unifies ALE switches, wireless access points, IoT devices, Celona Private 5G, and Versa SD-WAN and SASE solutions under one platform. This ensures consistent security policies and centralized management, regardless of whether organizations choose on-premises, cloud, or hybrid deployments.
